NOVA Strategic Advisory Group works directly with leaders and institutions on the design problems examined in Winning the Peace — the systems, incentives, and execution architecture that decide whether serious priorities become durable outcomes or expensive activity that fades when attention moves on.

NOVA is a founder-led strategic advisory practice serving leaders responsible for consequential institutional decisions. We help leadership design systems that work and hold while preserving institutional ownership.

Where we work

Continuity & systems design.

Many programs are funded as projects and expected to perform as systems. We assess the architecture required to sustain performance and design the ownership, incentives, transition, and accountability arrangements that carry results beyond the next budget cycle.

Stabilization & winning the peace.

Clearing ground is an event; holding it is an institution. We help leaders design and resource the holding architecture while the effort is underway—the civil-military, administrative, and reintegration systems that convert tactical gains into durable order.

Value capture & sub-national development.

Abundance becomes wealth when institutions capture more of its value. We work with state governments and development partners to design the processing, standards, and ownership systems that keep value at home — turning raw production into jobs, revenue, and lasting local capacity.

AI, autonomy & institutional judgment.

Machine-speed capability magnifies the consequences of institutional judgment. We assess how AI affects institutional strength, identify where automation may conceal existing weakness, and apply a structured readiness and governance standard that preserves accountability, sovereignty, and human control.

Who we work with

Leaders and institutions confronting consequential design decisions: sub-national governments and their agencies, development implementers and foundations, and firms and mission-driven organizations operating in or entering African markets. Engagements are leader-facing and conducted under appropriate confidentiality arrangements.

How we begin

Every engagement begins with a focused diagnostic. Through document review, structured leadership conversations, and institutional mapping, NOVA identifies the underlying design problem, clarifies the decisions it requires, and delivers a concise findings-and-options briefing. This bounded first engagement lets both sides assess the problem and determine whether further work would create value.

About the founder

Wilson Ugah is a retired U.S. Army Strategist (FA59) and the founder of NOVA Strategic Advisory Group. His work spans national security, governance, development, and institutional design, with experience across strategic planning, security cooperation, logistics, and interagency coordination. He completed the Defense Strategy Course and Basic Strategic Art Program at the U.S. Army War College. He writes on strategy, security, and Nigerian governance at Winning the Peace.
